BK Energy acquires new technology
certification for ¡®rotating floating solar power technology¡¯¡¦ ¡°Extension of Power Generation
Efficiency by 15%"
BK Energy (President Lee Haeng-woo)
announced that its ¡®floating solar power generation efficiency improvement
technology using turntable method¡¯ has acquired ¡®2021 New Technology (NET)
Certification¡¯ from the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards.
This is the only rotating floating solar
power generation system that meets the Korea Energy Agency's floating solar
power standards and can increase power generation efficiency by 15% (compared
to fixed-type floating solar power).
Korean Agency for Technology and Standards
selects unique new technologies developed domestically and certifies them as
¡®new technologies.¡¯
The main selection criteria are ¡ãtechnology
that is superior or equivalent to that of developed countries and can be
commercialized ¡ãtechnology that has a large technological and economic ripple
effect that can contribute to improving national technological capabilities and
strengthening external competitiveness.
The floating solar power generation
efficiency improvement technology acquired by BK Energy this time is a technology
that improves power generation time by 15% by applying the turntable method to
floating solar power, which is installed only in a fixed manner.
According to BK Energy, the existing
technology was designed to be fixed and had the disadvantage of reducing power
generation efficiency during sunrise/sunset times due to the movement of the
sun.
To improve this, a rotation method using
prop-type piles was applied, but technical limitations arose due to low
economic feasibility and limitations due to installation conditions, which
lowered business feasibility.
Accordingly, BK Energy improved the fixed
form of the existing conventional floating solar power to rotation through
X-shaped mooring and single-axis drive control based on ¡®floating rotation
technology¡¯ applying the turntable method.
This technology allows the removal of piles
instead of the rotation method using prop-type piles, which increases solar
power generation efficiency and improves economic feasibility and
constructability compared to existing technologies.
BK Energy President Lee Haeng-woo said,
"We will build solar facilities in the name of BK Energy everywhere in the
world with the technology of the company that is currently developed and will
be developed in the future. Furthermore, BK Energy's goal is to provide a lot
of help with solar facilities everywhere, including Africa, where energy
independence is insufficient."
Meanwhile, BK Energy holds numerous patents
on floating and land solar power structures, buoyancy bodies, and rotation
technologies.
As the lead organization for the purchase
conditional technology development project of the Ministry of SMEs and
Startups, it developed all technologies ourselves for a total of 27 months and
succeeded in ¡®development of rotating floating solar power mooring and rotation
device¡¯, and it was confirmed as an excellent invention by the Korea Invention
Promotion Association.
Currently, through continuous technology
development, it is developing a mooring system that can respond to water level
changes, which is the biggest challenge of floating solar power, while
minimizing horizontal movement, and a land-based solar power tracking system
that incorporates artificial intelligence.
