
Malaysia's Sabah State Minister of Trade, Industry and
Energy establishes cooperation with Yeosu company BK Energy
Technology exchange following installation of 30GW
offshore solar power plant
Discussing plan to produce 10 million tons of green
hydrogen annually
Malaysia's Sabah State (MIDE) Minister of Trade,
Industry and Energy (Pung Jin-je) and a delegation officially visited the
Bongam Reservoir floating solar power plant on the 8th along with BK Energy, a
company in Yeosu, Jeollanam-do.
According to BK Energy on the 9th, this visit by the
Malaysian Sabah State delegation was prepared for technological exchanges
between BK Energy, a Korean company specializing in offshore solar power, and GPhilos,
Korea's first hydrogen water electrolysis technology company.
The project being promoted by the Malaysian state of
Sabah aims to build 30GW offshore solar power generation facilities in an area
called ¡®the land below the wind¡¯ and produce 66TWh of clean energy annually.
This is to promote clean energy production by actively
utilizing solar energy resources in the Malaysian state of Sabah.
To this end, it will sign business agreements with
seven companies, including solar module producers, inverters, and EPC
specialists, along with BK Energy, a Yeosu company in Jeollanam-do, and expand
investment with 30 companies that have declared Korea's RE100.
The project's estimated investment is 45 trillion won
in offshore solar power plants, creating 286,527 jobs, and producing 9.8
trillion won of green energy annually and using this clean energy to produce
about 1,000 tons of green hydrogen annually.
BK Energy predicts that this close cooperation with
Sabah will play an important role in creating a better future through
cooperation in the clean energy field as well as friendly relations between the
two countries.
¡°With this agreement, we expect that Korea
and Sabah will be able to overcome the energy crisis facing the world and find
sustainable, clean and efficient energy solutions,¡± said BK Energy President
Lee Haeng-woo. He added, ¡°It will act as an important engine for the
sustainable development of the energy industry and serve as a catalyst to
revitalize Malaysia¡¯s clean energy market and spread Korea¡¯s clean energy
technology to the world.¡±

power generation with Sabah, Malaysia
Promoting 30GW offshore solar power
generation facilities
BK Energy (President Lee Haeng-woo, former
Yeosu City Council member) announced on the 9th that it has signed an agreement
with the Minister of Industry and delegation of Malaysia's Sabah State (MIDE)
to build tens of trillions of offshore solar power facilities.
According to BK Energy, a company
specializing in offshore solar energy, the Minister of Industry of Sabah
visited the offshore solar power plant in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, which was
completed on the 8th by BK Energy after its engineering, procurement, and
construction.
They met with BK Energy and GPhilos (CEO
Park Gau-woo), Korea's first hydrogen water electrolysis technology company,
and discussed projects such as installing solar power generation facilities in
Malaysia.
It is reported that the company is pursuing
a project to build 30GW offshore solar power generation facilities and produce
66TWh of clean energy annually in Sabah, Malaysia.
A company official explained that the
company signed business agreements with seven companies specializing in solar
module production, inverter, and EPC to promote clean energy production and
produce green hydrogen by utilizing solar energy resources in Sabah, Malaysia.
It was also added that the company plans to
expand investment in the 30 companies that have declared Korea's RE100 in the
future.
BK Energy predicted that if the project is
properly promoted, the expected investment size for the offshore solar power
plant will be 45 trillion won, which will enable the creation of 286,527 jobs
and produce 9.8 trillion won of eco-friendly energy annually. It is expected
that approximately 1,000 tons of green hydrogen will be produced annually using
this clean energy.
In fact, the Malaysian state of Sabah has
no typhoon invasion due to climatic conditions, so floating installation in the
sea is possible, and due to low wind load, the facility costs of structures and
mooring devices can be significantly reduced, which is economically
advantageous.
In addition, because the country is located
near the equator, its solar power generation capacity is more than twice that
of Korea, and the amount of sunlight is good, so it is expected to be able to
have a solar power plant that is 1.5 times more efficient than Korea.
"With this agreement, Korea and Sabah
are expected to overcome the energy crisis facing the world and find sustainable
and efficient energy solutions," said President Lee Haeng-woo.
